Dealerships are known for their sky-high prices for those unavoidable logbook services which make these occasions a stressful time. These services don’t need to be the money drain that they are. Talk to LeMans about why swapping from a dealership to a local mechanic will be better for your budget.

Servicing your Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has created a flexible service system that divides your maintenance needs into two separate services, Service A and Service B. Determining which service you need can be done by looking at how far you’ve driven your car and for how long. These services interchange, so you’ll need Service A, and then Service B the next time.

These services do vary depending on how you drive your car and what model it is, check in with LeMan’s Motors to see where your Mercedes-Benz is on its service schedule and what’s required of it at your next appointment. We’re always happy to answer any and all questions surrounding the Service A or Service B details, so never hesitate to give us a call and have a chat.

How often should I service my Mercedes-Benz?

Naturally, you should book in your Mercedes-Benz whenever your logbook recommends and whenever it’s time for your Service A or Service B. Keeping up to date on your logbook and general servicing is the best way that you can retain value on your Mercedes Benz and future proof it for the long run. Services are primarily preventative measures so that you can ensure that your car is safe and on the road for the longest time possible.

mercedes benz history brisbane@2x

The first Mercedes-Benz car was introduced to Australia in July of 1958 and from 1959 to 1965 various models were assembled in Port Melbourne. In the year of 1961, Mercedes sold 1481 cars and 335 trucks, it’s safe to say that the brand has grown quite significantly from then. With the background of WWII, Australians weren’t too keen to be purchasing German vehicles, or Japanese ones for that matter. But as Mercedes-Benz established itself as a luxury vehicle, Australians soon came around.

LeMans Motors was founded in Brisbane in 1974 and we’ve been servicing Mercedes-Benz since then. We’ve loved seeing how views change and evolve with cars, how some become popular and others fade into obscurity. The Mercedes-Benz has become one of the more popular cars to roll through our garage, and we’re always happy to give them the LeMans treatment. We’ve got years of experience servicing Mercedes-Benz under our belt, and we’re always on the forefront of the latest changes to their car technology and safety innovations.

Why choose LeMans Motors

Based in Milton, Woolloongabba, Bulimba, and Newstead, we’re experienced European car service technicians who understand the latest in European software and have the best diagnostic technology. We’ve invested in our mechanics and trained them to provide a full service to European cars. We’ve also invested in technology so that when you bring in your Mercedes-Benz, you can rest assured knowing that we have all of the equipment and tools needed to discover what repairs are needed with your car.

European cars are a bit different, there’s a stronger reliance on technology, that’s why it’s so important to have the right tools and knowledge to get the job done. We’re happy to invest in our people and in our tools, it means that we can give the Brisbane community a real alternative to using dealership mechanics. You don’t need to get ripped off every time you book in for your logbook service.

Vehicles serviced

LeMans Motors offer full logbook servicing on European cars for a fraction of the price – and we always do it by the book. We service the full range of Mercedes-Benz cars and can answer any and all of your questions relating to your car’s service. We’re experienced technicians who understand the latest in European cars. Car manufacturers use scare tactics to make sure you take your car to their dealership for service. The truth is, having your car serviced at a non-dealer doesn’t void your car’s warranty.

If you have a car that is rare or unique, and you’re not sure if you’ll be able to service it, feel free to give us a call and we can answer any questions that you might have around servicing.

After hours drop-off

The LeMans way

We do things a little differently from your average mechanic here at LeMans. We’re an independent mechanic that puts the focus back on you and your driving experience. Your can is your key to freedom, it drives you from A to B, it gets you to the grocery shop, it drops the kids off at school and it gets you to work. It’s an extension of your life!

We want you to feel as safe as possible in your car, because it’s your lifestyle, and we get that. It’s what you use to transport your friends and loved ones, so of course, you want it up and running at all times. When there’s a funny noise or disruption to your driving it can be a bit disorienting, when you book into LeMans, you can rest assured knowing that we’ll tell you what’s wrong and give you options as to how to fix it, because that’s the LeMans way.

mercedes mechanic west end
Have you ever booked your car into a mechanic or dealership, turned up to pick it up, and been presented with a bill that’s far larger than what you expected? This absolutely shouldn’t be a normal occurrence. If there’s something in your regular service that we notice is out of the ordinary, we’re not going to jump in and add a bunch of things without consulting you first. If we notice something in your car that should be replaced or fixed, our first point of call will be to give you a ring and explain what’s going on. We know fixes and replacements to your car can be confusing, especially when you’re not expecting them. That’s why we’ll never do anything to your car without getting your expressed consent beforehand.
So you’ve just been told that an obscure part of your car needs replacing. Some mechanics would just leave it at that or would perhaps give you a convoluted explanation. At LeMans, we love questions. When we come to you to let you know a certain part needs replacing, we’re going to explain the function of that part, why it needs replacing and a recommended replacement time frame. If a part doesn’t need replacing right away, we’ll let you know when you should book in for a replacement, and how much that will cost. We’re all about providing options for you so that you feel best placed to make the right decision for your timeframe and for your budget.

Independent mechanics are cheaper than our dealership counterparts, we don’t have the huge overheads that they do. At LeMans, we’re always upfront about price and what you get for that price. There are no sneaky extras that we slip in and no extra parts that we add in without checking with you first. We’re not in the business of taking advantage of our community, we’re here to make your car safe and give you peace of mind on the roads.

Frequently asked questions

We’re always happy to answer any questions our customers have. Below are the most common questions we get asked.

If your question isn’t answered please contact your nearest workshop for more information.

This is a question that we get asked quite a bit, do I need the genuine Mercedes-Benz brakes when mine needs replacing? You actually don’t need the exact name brand brakes for your Mercedes Benz, and at LeMan’s motors, we do offer an alternative brake option that is the same quality as the original brakes but nowhere near as expensive.

If you like keeping your Mercedes-Benz with the brand name equipment, then we’re more than happy to supply you with these parts as well. At LeMans Motors, we like to give you options as to what parts you want put in your car. At dealerships, they’ll never give you an option to choose from brand to alternative replacement options.

We know that this might be a bit of a shift in thinking from your usual service and having options can be a bit more confusing. That’s why we always explain the options in your language. When you need your Mercedes-Benz brakes changed, and you’re perhaps confused about which option you should go with, then your LeMans mechanic will be more than happy to talk you through the pro’s and con’s of each option to leave you feeling confident with your decision. You won’t just drive away with a new set of brakes, you’ll also be driving away with a renewed sense of safety in your recently serviced car.

One of the key differentiators between European cars and non-European cars is their reliance on technology to figure out what’s going on with your car and to keep your car running. When you book your Mercedes-Benz into LeMans, we use our diagnostic software to understand what’s going on with your car so that we can fix what needs to be fixed and find any issues as soon as possible.

If you’re noticing that there’s an issue with your car’s electronics, then book into LeMans to discover what’s going on. With our diagnostic tools, we’ll be able to localise the problem and give you a solution, no matter if it’s to do with your car’s electronics or with your clutch.

We’ve invested in the right technology so that we can be your one-stop-shop for all things to do with your Mercedes-Benz. There’s nothing worse than finding out that there’s a problem with your car and having to take it somewhere else to get it fixed. You’re busy and your time is valuable, that’s why we always tell you what’s happening up front, and never try to lead you down the wrong path. We also tell you what’s happening with your car on your terms, so if ever you don’t understand something, we’ll be happy to explain why we’re giving you certain recommendations.

Unfortunately, clutches will wear out on your Mercedes-Benz and when that happens you will need to replace them. Fortunately, there are a few options when your clutch fails. At LeMans, we supply genuine Mercedes-Benz parts but we also provide you with an option to get a quality non-branded replacement. These parts work just as well as the genuine parts but they come at a fraction of the price.

We provide options for all of our services at LeMan’s because we know that everybody’s situation is unique, and what suits one person’s budget and timeframe may not suit another. Not everyone will want genuine Mercedes-Benz parts, and we’re more than happy to cater to these needs.

Look out for the following symptoms that something is happening to your Mercedes-Benz clutch:

  • That your car gets noisy when in neutral but quietens when the clutch is pressed
  • Squealing or any noise when you press your clutch
  • That accelerating is causing your car to make a lot of noise
  • Grinding noises when changing gears
  • Difficulty putting your car into gear

We get asked this question quite a bit, and the answer is a resounding no! There’s a lot of misinformation floating around about whether or not you can use independent mechanics to service your Mercedes-Benz. Dealerships often use scare tactics to force you into maintaining a maintenance schedule with them. But the truth is, having your car serviced at a non-dealer absolutely doesn’t void your car’s warranty. As long as you maintain your logbook services and fix any issues as they arise, then your warranty won’t be voided and you’ll also maintain the resale value of your Mercedes-Benz.

Dealerships will say that their technicians have a greater understanding of their specific car brands than independent mechanics because they’re the only type of car that they deal with. In reality, with European cars like your Mercedes-Benz, as long as you have the right diagnostic tools and the right training to operate them then you’ll be able to understand any problems that your car is experiencing.

Our mechanics have been working with European cars for decades, and they have access to the right diagnostic tools to give your car its logbook service and tackle any bumps that you might have along the way. Working with a wide range of European cars also means our mechanics approach problems from different perspectives and have a more holistic understanding of cars in general. This overarching knowledge means they’re able to localise problems faster and get to the root cause and fix it easier.
